Evaluation activity 7 - Looking back at your preliminary task ( the continuity editing task ) what do you feel you have learnt in the process in the progression from it to full product?

- Looking back at our preliminary task we have made improvements. From doing the preliminary  task we got feedback from people who watched it and they mentioned which scenes within the preliminary task needed improvements. Especially with the camera positions. Examples of these are,

- Here is a picture of a clip from our preliminary task and shows James one minute then. The shot type we used in this clip was a two shot and medium shot. By using these shot types it showed clearly that there was two people included in this shot which makes it easier for the audience to see where the clip is set.
- This is the same clip from the one above and it shows that James disappears from the same shot which wasn't meant to happen. We've learnt from this and thought about the improvements we needed to make. Which we have added to our opening two minutes and it doesn't occur with the opening two minutes which shows that we have taken the criticisms from our preliminary task and didn't include them during our opening two minutes.

- Throughout the preliminary task and towards making our opening two minutes we have learnt different shot types and editing techniques which we have included during our opening two minutes.

- Shot types we have learnt and included.

- Over the shoulder shot- which is a shot of someone or something taken from the perspective or camera angle from the shoulder of the other person. The back of the person is used to frame the image of whatever the camera is pointing towards. We put this into practice in our preliminary task which have used in our opening two minutes which looks more clear that its an over the shoulder shot. By using this shot at this bit of the scene makes the audience feel more involved as they get to see what the victim ( me ) was looking at. We include another over the shoulder shot aswell from when the victim ( me ) reads the letter from the first victim.

- We also used over the shoulder shot within our opening two minutes. However, we used it differently than we did in the opening two minutes as in the preliminary task its used during a conversation and within the opening two minutes its used with a picture and letter.

- Long shot - a long shot usually takes place at the beginning of a horror film as it shows the beginning scene in a clear way. We have used a long shot around the beginning bit of the scene as it shows where the victim  ( me ) is in more of a clear way so it makes it more realistic as its in a public place. Furthermore, its the best way to established the location of the scenes. The long shot we used was moving as the victim was running away from the camera which shall draw attention to the audience. We have included more than one long shot during our film which creates the same effect. Which is the impression we wanted to give to the audience.

- In our preliminary task we included a close up. We decided to use an extreme close- up in our opening two minutes as its gives more of an effect and creates more of a suspense and tension towards the audience which is what horror films include.

- Extreme close up- Shows more detail or the person and gives the audience an impression of how they are feeling for there facial expressions. Its more visual than a close up shot. It usually has an extreme close- up of a face which shall show only the mouth or eyes and no background this shall be used for a dramatic effect.  From our extreme close up the audience can see how the victim ( me ) is feeling from the eyes as they winded as shes reading the letter and whilst she takes a deep breath. This gives it more of an effect towards

- Low shot -  Its an increase in height. Low angels help give a tense of confusion towards the audience it makes the person on screen look more powerful and taller which is our case of the film shall show that the letter has made the victim ( me ) realise what shes got to do and shows that she shall stand up to the antagonist as that's what the letter from the first victim tells her to do. By using an extreme close up shot and a low shot in the same bit of the scene shall create more of an effect and the audience shall get exactly how the victim is feeling which is what we want the audience to see.

- In our preliminary task we used high angle shot which gives an overview of the location and of whats included within that shot. For our opening two minutes we didn't include this shot type as it didn't match with our opening two minutes and the shot types we had already used as it wouldn't give of a better effect.

- Mise en scene- shot types were included in the preliminary task and the opening two minutes -

- Shot types we used,

- Preliminary task.
- Medium shot.
- Shot reverse shot.
- Close - up.
- Over the shoulder shot.
- High shot.

- Shot types we used,

- Opening two minutes.
- Medium shots.
- Long shots.
- Over the shoulder shots.
- Extreme close - up.
- Low shots.
- Close ups.

- We have used more of a variety of shot types within the opening two minutes. We used the shots which linked with a horror film as we wanted to give a certain effect towards the audience  We have learnt how to use these shots and put them into our opening two minutes.

- Different effects and techniques we used during the preliminary task and our opening two minutes.

- In our preliminary task we used shot reverse shot as it shows two people having a conversation and that's the impression that we wanted to send across towards the audience as there was two people involved within the conversation. In our opening two minutes we didn't think it was necessary to use shot reverse shot as its an opening two minutes and we didn't want to give too much away with what was going to happen within the opening two minutes.

-Jump cuts - same shots are taken from different positions. We used jump cuts within our opening two minutes which we thought created more of a tense effect towards the audience as we see this camera get closer and closer towards the victim ( me ) as shes walking towards the bridge.

- Match on action - where the perspective of the camera changes position during the scene. In our opening two minutes we included match on action as we wanted the audience to know what the victim ( me ) was reading as we wanted them to see that there was a written letter.

- In our preliminary task we used the 180 degree rule.Whilst we was doing our preliminary task i didn't understand what it was. However, during our opening two minutes we included the 180 degree rule. It makes more sense to me now. The 180 degree rule is on screen with the relationship between a character and another character within a scene. Theres a line which connects the characters and keeping the camera on one side of the line.

- This is the 180 degree rule in our opening two minutes, which creates the effect on the antagonist and the victim ( me ) which shall  makes it clear to the audience what the relationship between the victim ( me ) and the antagonist it like.

- We didn't use the effect of slow motion within our preliminary task. However, the slow motion effect we thought shall have more of an effect if we used it during our opening two minutes. It worked well with the scene as the picture the victim ( me ) was holding fell to the floor and by including slow motion at this bit of the scene made our opening two minutes have more of a variety of different camera work and editing. By using slow motion makes it more of an important point within the opening two minutes and we wanted to make the audience know that as the victim ( me ) dropped the picture that she is scared. Which is what we wanted the audience to insinuate and that the victim ( me ) is the next antagonist's victim.

- Overall, we have used a different variety of camera shots, camerawork and editing. By using these different shot types within our premilinary task made it more effective and make it link to the storyline and the impression we wanted to give across to the audience. We used variety of shots in different clips of the scene which created more of a suspense and created more tension towards the audience especially in our opening two minutes.

Evaluation activity 6 - What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

- For our sound and voice over we recorded it on our iphone app. We used a piano for our sound which we recorded and then sent to ourselves over email. Furthermore, for our voice over we recorded the voice over which we also sent to ourselves. We found this the easiest way to get our voice and sound to our opening two minutes.

 - We used a tripod which we borrowed from school to make sure the shots were steady. It made us get the right shots and angles and if we wanted to tilt the camera we could as the tripod makes it stable and gets in more focus of the shots we want to take this shows to the audience that there not watching a constructed film and its a professional film. However, we didn't use the tripod in all of the scenes as the scene where the antagnist went behind the victim ( me ) on the bridge we wanted to make it look like it was from the antagonists perepctive as he was walking up behind the victim in doing this the antagonist held the camera.

- For our sound we used a piano to create our soundtrack and backing music. It made it more realistic and demonstrated that we can make our own music. The tone of the music we used varried from low to high which created more suspense.
- For all of our film which included the editing sound and emailing stuff over to create the final opening two minutes we used our laptop which made it more oragnised as everything was on one laptop. It took around five hours to create our opening two minutes.

- We used our own camera for filming as we found it easier to use than the schools ones which they was going to provide us with. We used normal settings on the camera and no effect as we was going to edit it on movie maker. We found this more effective way as we shall be able to see the scenes and shots we filmed more clearly. For our title of the film we took a picture of the pathway and then put the title 'the pathway' and then editied it to make it link with our opening two minutes.

- To edit our film we used movie maker. We found it easier to use to edit our opening two minutes. We were advised to use adobe but we felt that we shall not be able to figure out how to work it and edit it and we felt more comfortable doing it with movie maker as we have used it before which is something which helped us create our opening two minutes.
- Movie maker is known as windows movie maker. It is part of windows essentials software suite and offers the ability to create and edit videos and includes being able to publish them on skiydrive, flickr and youtube.
- There is many choices of editing, animation and effects. However we felt that the way we wanted to create the look and feel of the film we wanted,  this consisted of using -
Slow motion - which created more suspense twoards the audience which is what horror genre films include in there films.
- Animation - For animation we used the blur through black. This effect we applied towards the end of the opening two minutes when the victim ( me ) meets the antagonist and screams. We felt this shall look better as it makes it go with the flow more and has a flash to part where the vitcim ( me ) scream.
- Visual effects - As there is a varried amount of options to choose from for the effects we went with the most basic effect which was black and white and we decreased the brightness and increased the contrast which made it more of a horror genre film and a dark look which is what we wanted to go for.
- Video volume - For our sound we used video volume to decrease or increase the volume. Which we did to create the effect we wanted as having quiet music gradully getting louder and fast made it more of a suspense which links with a horror genre film.
- Each of our clips were longer than we antisipated and when they were all together it was longer than 2 minutes. To improve this we cut the clips to right part of each clip which made that link with each of the other clips which made it go with the flow and connect more like a horror genre film.

- YouTube was included in our opening two minutes editing as we added the videos from our opening two minutes on there to create the videos then we added them all together which made the opening two minutes. This was to ensure us that the videos saved. We found this the easiest way to save the videos and our opening two minutes.

- Adobe premiere elements 10 was included in our editing for our opening two minutes. We used this to include titles in our opening two minutes which included the directors, editors, producers and the cast.
-We decided not to use this for editing all of our opening two minutes as we didn't know how to work the editing site and we didn't want to be behind in our editing and evaulations this is why we decdied to use movie maker which we know how to use as we have used it for tasks in other lessons before and we found simple to use. In A2 we are planning on using adobe as we shall have time to play around with it and see how it works and we have used it to edit our titles of the film which we completed.
- Editing we used
- We went on title then new title then defualt still then chose a font style then decreased the size of the font to make it fit in with the opening two minutes as we didn't want it to devalue the opening two minutes.

- When creating a film you have to consider technogies of production which makes the film look professional and something the audience wants to which. Aspects to consider when creating a film include the quality of software whether is high or low. If you have high quality software it creates more of a professional look for a film. The quailty of the film also depends on where you upload it whether its in a site which is reliable in which you know your film shall be saved and uploaded to. Funding and how much you spend on creating your film shall be an important aspect to creating your film as you need to budget each part of equipment used and technology as the film producers want to make the film as professional as possible and by spending a certain amount of money of the technologies of production you shall want to have more of a profit and in doing this by having high quailty stuff shall re-enforce this which is important in the filming industry and for opening two minutes.

Evalutation activity 5 - How did you attract/address your audience?

- This is our pre-titled analysis, this opening two minutes version didn't include titles. We then chose to add titles and it made it more clear to the audience who was a part of our opening two minutes and it addresses the audience in an understanding way. This annotation annalysis of our opening two minutes doesn't show the production titles as we didn't include them when we first finalised the opening two minutes.

Evaluation activity 4 - Who would be the audience for your media product?

- Genres of films shall all have target audiences as it makes it east for films to aim to the public and people have different interest within what types of films they watch. Knowing your genre of film makes it easier to know which target audience the film is aimed at. The genre of our film is a horror which we came to the conclusion that the target audience which our film shall appeal to is 16 - 24year olds and shall be the certification of 15 or 18. Overall, it shall appeal to teenagers as they usually enjoy the suspense of a horror film and can also enjoy scaring themselves as they like to see how scary the horror films are and if they scare them.
- Knowing that we wanted an target audience of 16 - 24 year olds as we new what to include within our film as we know what shall interest them and what they shall find interesting as we are teenagers ourselves.
- The gender of the target audience of normal horror films shall usually appeal to more males as they are stereotyped being harder to scare and they enjoy watching the gore and aspects which are included in horror films. Whereas the female audience are easier to scare as they obviously come across as more feminine. However, for our film the target audience of gender is mainly aimed at males but we think that more of a female audience shall watch it also as we have included females as the victims and the target audience of females shall want to watch it as it shall relate to them as they are females and the same age as the female shown the in the film.

- Teenagers don't tend to be as picky with what they like and enjoy as there is more of a selection of things which has occurred over the years. The target audience of our film is mainly towards teenagers both of females and males.

- Females and males - teenagers.
- What shops do females and males shop in?
- There is more of a variety of shops and teenagers like to share there own individuality  However, the majority of teenagers like to be in with the fashion. Shops which shall appeal to females are topshop, riverisland and urbanoutfitters these three shops are the mainly shopped at shops from female teenagers as they are known to have the new fashion and the clothes which everyone want. Furthermore, this isn't just the case for female teenagers this also appeals to the male teenagers as they also like to shop in topman and riverisland. More so now females like to wear some male clothes items or there is clothes which are more boyish sold in the section of female shops. However, this isn't the case for males with wearing girl clothes as it wouldn't be right for a male to wear a dress or a skirt they would just get judged and put into a stereotypical group.
 - Music teenagers listen too?
- The music taste of our target audience shall vary as teenagers have there own type of music. Overall, teenagers like the majority of music which is around today which shall be all of the music genres which you are shown today. These shall include, pop, rock, r and b, dubstep and some teenagers enjoy listening to the 90s music which is what there parents listen too. Teenagers tend to like most types and styles or music what is shown in the contemporary UK.
-  Which TV programmes teenagers enjoy?
- Females and males are similar when it comes to TV programmes as there is a limit to what programmes there is to watch. However, there is a stereotype of which genre of programmes females and males like to watch. Females like to watch romances and males prefer to watch action and prefer watching the football channels. However, overall teenagers like watching similar programmes which is why our film is aimed at teenagers. These can include, Geordie shore, keeping up with the kardashians, the big bang theory and programmes like that. Furthermore, females prefer to watch more of the soap TV programmes whereas, males prefer to watch the sport programmes.

- The pathway shall appeal to an audience of teenagers which is who we want it to aim to for our film.

Evaluation activity 3 - What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

- This is a pre-titled analysis which doesn't feature the production titles.

Evaluation acttivity 2 - How does your media product represnt particular social groups?

- Media product represents social groups.

- The antagonist from our opening two minutes has some differences and similarities from the antagonist in sinister.
- Similarities.
-They both share one of the main characters within the film they appear in. I have picked the antagonist from sinister as they are both hard to distinguish and infer whether they are human or what they are and what category they come under. Furthermore, in our opening two minutes we don't see the antagonists face which doesn't make it clear to the audience whether the character is human. Similarly, throughout sinister we meet the antagonist and he appears in more scenes which is what we are including in our film. The opening two minutes of sinister doesn't show the antagonist this creates more of a suspense. In our opening two minutes we meet the character but we don't come face to face with him which makes it unclear to what the antagonist is. When the victim ( me ) is on the bridge and turns around with the approach of the antagonist her reaction gives an impression that the antagonist either looks possessed or hes holding some kind of weapon. The audience don't see what victim ( me ) is seeing which creates tension for the audience.
- The characters of our antagonist and sinister antagonist play similar roles as they both seem to move onto different people to attack or kill. As in sinister its the house which has a curse of the antagonist in which he killed a family which lived there before the new family which moved there. He kills them one by one and keeps a child which he creates to be evil and follow rules from him. In our opening two minutes it shows that the antagonist has killed a girl and her friend is at a graveyard with a letter the girl which was killed wrote and explains that shes sorry. This doesn't give to much away with what the narrative and storyline is going to include and how the antagonist attacks his victims.

- Differences.
- There isn't many differences included in our antagonist and sinister. However, we don't see the antagonist in sinister in action as we only meet him in videos and pictures whereas, our antagonist the audience does see as he appears in the majority of the scenes watching the victim and her every move.

- Appearance
- The appearance of the characters are different as you can see what the antagonist from sinister looks like. Whereas, we don't come across the appearance of the antagonist from our opening two minutes. Even though the audience don't see what the antagonist looks like they can infer how the antagonist looks from the reaction from the victims ( me ) and how the victim ( me ) looks possessed and like shes been attack from the antagonist.

- Costume - mis en scene
- Both of the antagonists wear clothes which normal people shall wear. As the antagonist from sinister wears a suit which infers normality as suits represents a professional look which doesn't give two much away with the victim. Whereas, the antagonist from our opening two minutes wears a tracksuit which is what people shall wear as it links to the look of our antagonist looking more chilled and not giving to much away and makes it more suspicious on how the antagonist kills his victims. The antagonist from Sinister's costume comes across as more threatening. Whereas, the antagonist from our opening two minutes costume isn't as threatening as its something which a normal teenage boy shall wear and there type of clothing.

- Role in film.
- They both have this curse on people and attack people which happens one by one and both of the films are supernatural and show mystery which make the audience question about what he does to his victims. In sinister a family is killed one by one and differently which is shown. In our opening two minutes not much is given away as we don't see how the antagonist kills his victims.

- Overall, these two characters have similarities within mise-en-scene.

Evaluation activity 1 - In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

- The title of the film
- For our opening two minutes title we used the setting of our opening two minutes which is where the victim ( me ) walks to the bridge. This shall make it more effective and realistic as it shows that its a place where we filmed which shall make the audience know that we made it ourselves and its original. For most horror film genres they don't tend to use there own setting for the background of there title they include a coloured background which makes there title stand out more. However, for our title we have used a white coloured font which also stands out from the background and its a lighter colour than the dark background which is the effect and image we wanted to create for our title of our opening two minutes.

- Setting/location

- The location we used is a typical horror film setting as its a quiet and eerie area. The location is a deserted area which makes the film more link to a horror genre. It makes the audience more tense as theres nothing around to make them guess whats going to happen within the film. Its more of a mystery o the audience. The outline of the trees in the background and the shadows make it more scary and unnerving environment.

- Costumes and props.

- This is the victims costume which is used mainly in a typical horror film as its just a normal girl whoes getting haunted by an antagonist which makes it more realistic and links to a horror genre film.

- This type of costume we used for the antagonist isn't usually featured in a horror film for the antagonist to wear as it doesn't fit within the horror genre and makes it look out of place within the film as it doesn't make it alarming towards to audience. Next time we film a horror we shall consider what the antagonist wears to make it go with our opening two minutes and fits within a typical horror film. We would make the antagonist wear black clothes without any words or patterns on which shall make it more realistic.

- Camerawork and editing.

- For this bit of the scene we used jump cuts which show the victim ( me ) from far away then gradually gets closer and closer to the victim which infers that its of the horror genre as this is often used to build up the tension.

- Title font and style.
 - The font style and colour we chose for our title isn't a normal horror cliche type of style for a title. The font style we chose is simple as we have chosen a background from the setting we used. We didn't want to make our title look over the top as we didn't want the title to be the main part of our opening two minutes we want the audience to remember whats included in our opening two minutes and whats going to happen as we feel that its the important bit to make the audience want to see the rest of the film. The title of our film can be similar to some horror films whereas, others use different styles and fonts which depends on what there film is about. We find that our title font and style links with our opening two minutes the pathway.

- Story and how the opening sets it up.

-The story of our film is when the antagonist kills a victim which is a normal teenage girl and the once hes done with her he shall find someone who was close to her then this carries on and towards the end we find out what he does and how he does it. The opening sets it up as we can infer that there is deaths involved in our horror film as we start the opening two minutes at a graveyard and the next victim is reading her friends letter she wrote before she was killed from the antagonist. Furthermore, we see the antagonist following the victim ( me) wherever she goes. He followed her from the graveyard to the bridge where the first victim shall have died from which is hopefully where the audience can infer this. We see the antagonist walking up behind the victim whilst she is looking over the bridge and once she turned around a saw the antagonist she turned around again and looked as if she had been attack by the antagonist as her face looked distort. In the opening two minutes we don't see whether the victim ( me ) dies or what happens to me which shall give more suspense and tension towards the audience what shall build up more tension within the film and towards the audience which is what horror films do as it wants to get the audience involved in with the film and they feel engaged with the characters which is when they can feel what the characters are going through especially the victim ( me ) the music we have included and used links with the tension of the opening to minutes, as we get closer to finding out what the killer looks like by face and how he kills his victims, it then tricks the audience then we don't find out which shall make the audience want to watch the horror film as they shall find out what happens. Which is the point in a horror genre film.

- Genre and how the opening suggest it.

- The opening of our two minutes infers that its a horror genre as its at a graveyard and you can insinuate that there is deaths and killing included within the opening two minutes which usually takes place in a horror film. Throughout the opening two minutes more things happen within the scenes like being introduced to the antagonist which doesn't give to much away as it doesn't show the events which happen to the victims, which is what horror films tend to do as it puts the audience more in suspense and builds up tension. We have a scene on the bridge where the antagonist is watching the victim and slowly goes behind her and she turns around looking normal then transforms to looking possessed which ends with a scream which shall make the audience feel more engaged within the film and shall be wanting to see what happens after the opening two minutes of the pathway which is why our opening two minutes goes into a genre of horror.

- How the characters are introduced.

- This is the main and first character which is introduced and the girl who lost her friend from the antagonist which we haven't met at this point and the audience don't know how this happened. By introducing to the audience the next victim ( me ) at the graveyard shall make it known to the audience that she is going to be approach by the antagonist within the opening two minutes or the rest of the film. This links with a typical horror genre film as we meet a girl alone in a graveyard reading a letter with it being deserted and no noise around which makes it more mysterious and alarming towards the audience as they shall think that anything shall happen when its as unpretentious as that.

- This is one of the other main characters within the opening two minutes. We are introduced to him second he is the antagonist. We are introduced to him as he is standing behind a tree and appears whilst the next victim ( me ) is at her friends grave reading a letter from her telling her to run as what she referred to as 'him' that he's coming and the next victim ( me ) needs to run. We see during the opening two minutes the antagonistic scrunching up a picture of the first victim he targeted then the next which was her friend. He does this in an angry way like they've done something wrong or hes just disturbed in making his victims life's hell. The antagonist follows the victim to the bridge where he watches her for a few seconds without her knowing then in small steps he gets closer and closer behind her as she turned around something happened whilst she was doing that and the antagonistic attack her in some way which we don't see in the opening two minutes. We see the victim looking possessed by the antagonist as he encroached her. This links with this character fitting into a typical horror genre film as not alot is given away at this point in the film as its only the opening two minutes which is what the majority of horror films tend to do which is where our introducing of the characters is fitting in with a horror genre type of film.

- Even though we don't meet the first victim we are still introduced by her as it briefly explains what it going to happen during the the film and what is going to be included. As she writes a letter telling her friend that shes sorry and was warning her friend to run and fight back and said ' its too late for me, but not too late for you' This gives us the impression that the same thing the antagonist did is going to happen to the second victim ( me ). This tends to happen in typical horror films where you don't meet a victim and they give you the information the audience needs to feel involved within the opening two minutes. Films like the ring include this. However, both of the girls are alive and one of the girls doesn't believe her friend about a tape. This links with how the next victim warning her friend which died telling her not to do something which we don't find out within the opening two minutes.

- Special effects.

- For the special effects we used slow motion. This effect slows down the scene which shall have an effect on the audience has the scene slows down and makes there have more tension. Has it slowly hits the floor the audience shall be thinking and trying to insinuate whats going to happen next. Slow motion shall make people remember that scene as its the only bit in slow motion and has impact on the audience. Horror films like saw use slow motion which has an effect on the film and the audience.

- We have also make some of the scenes blurry which we did for effect as it makes the audience look closer into the picture which shall make the look more into the narrative and storyline the pathway and our opening two minutes which makes it more of question of the horror film towards the audience.

- The use of mise en scene in our opening two minutes -
- In our opening two minutes we included, setting and location, costume hair and makeup, lighting, camera angels and positions.
- Setting and location - the setting was chose was a graveyard and then a pathway with trees and bridge. Which was quiet and no one around or no noise apart from the trees and the wind. We started the opening two minutes with the location of the graveyard, this links with a horror genre as it shall infer to the audience that there is and shall be some killings involved within the opening two minutes which is what a horror genre shall include. Then we moved location throughout the opening two minutes to the pathway, we used this type of location because the opening two minutes shows a girl walking down the pathway on her own with no one around being watched from the antagonist. We felt that this shall make the narrative and storyline clearer for the audience to infer and understand what we are trying to get across towards to audience. These locations are used in other horror genre films which shows that we have done research to make sure that our film shall be similar to other horror genre films and opening two minutes.
- Costume - For the costume and makeup we used normal girl clothes which was basic and included a leather jacket, top and jeans and shoes which is a norm for girls the victims age. We chose this costume because it doesn't give to much away and presents the victims as a normal girl which is what we wanted to send across to the audience. This tends to occur in other horror films. From doing some research characters similar to the victim ( me ) included in our opening two minutes were the two girls from the ring, which were school uniform which shows that they are normal girls which is similar to ours and what we want the audience to know. For the antagonists clothing we didn't think go through what he was going to wear. However, this didn't cause to much of a problem as the antagonist wore black clothes which linked to our opening two minutes as we wanted the antagonist to look mysterious and to go with the horror genre look. The only problem which occurred was that he wore trackies which showed the sign of the brand on the leg. Due to this happening in our A2 task we shall make sure we check what each of the characters are wearing and there costumes which shall make it look more professional which links with a horror genre. The makeup used in our opening two minutes we only used on the victim ( me ) we included this when the victim ( me ) meets the antagonist. The makeup we used was white face paint, dark eye shadow around the eyes and applied some red lipstick under the victims ( me ) eyes which made the audience instantly notice the victims ( me ) face as she meets the antagonist. Makeup in horror genre films is usually used, we got our makeup idea from the ring which was the antagonist which worked well with our opening two minutes
- Lighting - The lighting we used was edited from movie maker which was black and white and we included the decrease in lighting and the increase of the contrast effect which made it more of a horror genre film effect which is which we wanted to happen which shall make it clearer for the audience know that its a horror genre opening two minutes.
-  Camera angels and positioning - We included camera shots which are used in the majority of films within film industries, especially horror genre films. Shot types we used included were long shot, medium shot, over the shoulder shots, extreme close up, low shots and close up and high shots.

- Mise en scene creates meanings and infers to the audience that each of the mise en scene link to make a horror genre film and our opening two minutes. The aspects of the various mise en scene help express the films vision and how its portrayed towards the audience which is included films with horror genres and its important to include in opening two minutes.

The final opening two minutes - the pathway

- Complete pathway opening two minutes.

Research and planning - feedback from audience.

- Once we showed our film to an audience we realised that the ending of our opening two minutes was pointless and just dragged on as it just showed walking down the pathway and wasn't engaging. From this we are going to make certain changes. We have are going to change the beginning scene as we are going to introduced a new location and scene which is at a graveyard and the victim ( me ) going to her friends grave bryony and reading a letter which was from bryony as she was killed from the antagonist and it shows the antagonist being there at the grave when the victim ( me ) doesn't know that the antagonist is there. We then see the antagonist scrunching up the picture which the victim ( me ) had which i dropped. Furthermore, we are going to put the institution after that then we've put the beginning of the scene we had on the draft of our opening two minutes to the end. Which has made the film more linking with a horror genre film. For our soundtrack we are going to create it ourselves by using a piano. The sound we are using is going to happen when the antagonuist appears which shall the audience more in suspense and the music shall make it create more tension within the opening two minutes.

Opening two minutes - draft.

- This is our draft of our opening two minutes. This isn't the end result of our opening two minutes we still have alterations to make which includes improving the editing. We are going to improve the part where the victims ( me ) face shot changes to it being distort and attacked by the a antagonist we need to make it more flow more with the opening two minutes. Furthermore, the beginning of the opening two minutes where the dream works institution finishes and goes straight to the part of the victim ( me ) walking down the pathway needs to have a few improvements and adjustments to it looks more professional. We've still got to include and add the credits of the film. We are continuing this throughout our lessons.

Research and planning - age certification.

- For our film as its a horror we have decided to make the film an age certification of 18. Films which have an age certification of 18 are the Orphan, scream and dawn of the dead which all contain gory scenes which aren't suitable for younger ages. Our film also wouldn't be suitable for under 18s as a younger audience shall feel disturbed as we are including scenes which have severe horror and gore. Furthermore, we are going to include bad language which shall be offensive towards a younger audience.

Feedback

Research and Planning: Level 3 14/20
There is proficient work on scripting and shot lists.
There is a good level of care in the presentation of research and planning
Time management is good
Proficient organisation of actors, locations, costumes and props
Proficient research into similar products and a potential target audience.

To progress to level 4, make sure you have explained how your research impacted your decisions (for example in your audience profile posts, explain how you intend to address the potential target audience in your opening 2 minutes)
A storyboard is VITAL

Production: Level 2 34/60
There is evidence of proficiency in:
Using titles appropriately according to institutional conventions
Using editing so that meaning is apparent to the viewer.
Shooting material appropriate to the task set including controlled use of camera and mise-en-scene

There is evidence of a basic ability in the following:
Using sound with images
Using a variety of shot types
Producing material appropriate for the task set and target audience.

To improve, consider using a wider variety of shot types. Look again at the last 45 seconds - can you film anything else for this?

Research and planning - makeup before and after

- Before.

- After.

- We took pictures of the before and after effect of the makeup as it shows the difference of how the victim ( me ) looked within the opening two minutes and it shows that our opening two minutes is going to make the audience want to see the rest of the film as they shall be wanting to know what happened to the victim. For mise-en-scene for makeup we chose the white face paint and the dark eyes with an underline of red to create more of a scare towards the audience which makes the victim look more distressed and it creates more confusion towards the audience as they shall be questioning what happens to the antagonists victims which is what opening two minutes reach out to the audience to feel and think as we want the audience to feel engaged with our opening two minutes.

Research and planning - behind the scenes.

- These pictures show the camera positions and compostion of where we positioned the camera and placed it for filming and using different shot types which creates more variation and making our opening two minutes more effective which links with the suspense  of our opening two minutes.
