Feedback

Research and Planning: Level 3 14/20
There is proficient work on scripting and shot lists.
There is a good level of care in the presentation of research and planning
Time management is good
Proficient organisation of actors, locations, costumes and props
Proficient research into similar products and a potential target audience.

To progress to level 4, make sure you have explained how your research impacted your decisions (for example in your audience profile posts, explain how you intend to address the potential target audience in your opening 2 minutes)
A storyboard is VITAL

Production: Level 2 34/60
There is evidence of proficiency in:
Using titles appropriately according to institutional conventions
Using editing so that meaning is apparent to the viewer.
Shooting material appropriate to the task set including controlled use of camera and mise-en-scene

There is evidence of a basic ability in the following:
Using sound with images
Using a variety of shot types
Producing material appropriate for the task set and target audience.

To improve, consider using a wider variety of shot types. Look again at the last 45 seconds - can you film anything else for this?

Research and planning - makeup before and after

- Before.

- After.

- We took pictures of the before and after effect of the makeup as it shows the difference of how the victim ( me ) looked within the opening two minutes and it shows that our opening two minutes is going to make the audience want to see the rest of the film as they shall be wanting to know what happened to the victim. For mise-en-scene for makeup we chose the white face paint and the dark eyes with an underline of red to create more of a scare towards the audience which makes the victim look more distressed and it creates more confusion towards the audience as they shall be questioning what happens to the antagonists victims which is what opening two minutes reach out to the audience to feel and think as we want the audience to feel engaged with our opening two minutes.

Research and planning - behind the scenes.

- These pictures show the camera positions and compostion of where we positioned the camera and placed it for filming and using different shot types which creates more variation and making our opening two minutes more effective which links with the suspense  of our opening two minutes.

- The equipment we used.
- Camera.
- Tripod.

Research and planning - makeup step 5

-step 5
-The final look.
- Mise-en-scene- We chose to use a white pale face paint, with dark eyes and a red underline under the eyes to bold the eyes out which made the victim ( me ) look possessed which makes the victim ( me ) have more of an effect towards the audience. By using makeup its useful towards the audience to denotate the character and the victim ( me ) and its easier to represent the victim ( me ) in the way we wanted to portray the victim ( me ) to the audience.
- The victims ( me ) hair is down and across her face which infers more of an effect of the characters look as the victims ( me ) hair looks natrual and not staged which creates realism which is what we wanted to include in our opening two minutes.

Research and planning - makeup step 4

- step 4.
- Lastly we went back over the black lines on the victims face ( me ) to make them look more prominent. We then applied black to my lips. We had to make sure the lines on her face were clear to ensure the camera would pick them up whilst we were filming.

Research and planning - makeup step 3

- step 3
- We then used the different shades of pink, brown and black to under her eyes to make them stand out and look withered.
- This made the victims ( me ) look more creepy and made more of an effect to the character we was looking for. Her eyes looked worn out. This makes it look like the victims death has been drawn out. Whilst we have been applying the makeup you can see the process we have done to get the ending result.

Research and planning - makeup step 2

- step 2
- Next we used black eye shadow which defined the creases in the victims ( me) face which made it look darker. This gives the impression that she is frowning and highlights that she has had a change from the beginning of the opening two minutes so the audience can distinguish what the antagonist does and creates towards the victim. Furthermore, it shows that she isn't the innocent victim anymore.

Research and planning - makeup step 1

step 1.

- To make the victim look dead we used the effect of white face paint which we applied first to the victims face ( me ).
- The use of having a white, pale effect which makes the victim look as though they have been starstruck and terrified from there antagonist.

Research and planning - ideas for improvements

- In the presentation published earlier on my blog, we mentioned that we wanted to include two different scenes which were the death scene and the one afterwards featuring a reporter and two main characters. However, as we've started to film we realised that its going to be a struggle squeezing in that section to our opening two minutes so we have planned to cut out that section within our opening two minutes so it doesn't look like its been rushed. This shall make our opening two minutes more professional and detailed.

Research and planning - filming schedule

Bryony- Filmer and Director.
James- Filmer and Director.
Jordan- Antagonist/ killer.
Emma- Victim

- What we are going to include in our filming schedule for our opening two minutes-
- Soundtrack research for our opening two minutes - during lesson.
- The victim walking to the bridge (me) we use a screaming high pitch. Furthermore, the ending to the opening two minutes where the victim meets the antagonist we use a low pitch sound which creates more of a cliffhanger as we end the opening two minutes on the bit where the victim (me) turns around looking all distorted - at home.
- Edit the film to make it link to a horror genre - at home.

- On Tuesday 5th February
- Our first day of filming. Included in this day was  filming the part where the victim (me) walking up the path from different shots which were mainly long shots. During our filming day we had the chance to play around with soundtrack ideas. We used Bryony's piano. The pitch from the piano created a spooky tense atmosphere, it adds to the effect of the opening two minutes and builds up to the end of the opening two minutes which is the bit where the victim (me) meets the antagonist. We filmed for 2 hours.

- On Sunday 10th February
- We are going to re film the walking section of our opening two minutes quite a few times so we can choose which one is the best for our opening two minutes and we are going to film the ending of our opening two minutes where we use the pale makeup and make my face look distorted which is the most important of our horror film as that makes the audience question whats going to happen within the narrative of the film and the rest of it. It gets them questioning which is what we want to happen. We plan to start filming at around 1-2 and for about 2 hours.

- On the 12th February
-We planned to miss our last lesson to do some more filming. However, due to the snow we couldn't film as it would have been a continuity error. So we have planned to film during half term on the 20th-21st February. We are hoping to of finished the filming by then so we can focus on the soundtrack, institutions, names, titles and the editing of the film. As at the end of half term we shall be finished on the opening two minutes.

- On the 20th February
-We did some more filming and added the ending to our last two minutes which was the antagonist meeting the victim ( me ). This went better than anticipated as we got more done than we thought.

 - On Wednesday the 6th March
-We filmed the improvements which we decided to do once we got some feedback from the audience when we realised our opening two minutes definitely wasn't complete. This took us an hour to film. Then we edited the film which took us about an hour. We was happy with our end result.

- Wednesday 17th April
- Our final opening two minutes we was pleased with. However, the feedback we got was positive but we were told that there could be some improvements. The audience said that if we included titles of the characters, directors and producers of the opening two minutes it shall look more professional and realistic and like an opening two minutes of a horror film.
- We plan to do this during our lesson as we can all do it together and choose which font and style of writing we shall choose for the titles and where we shall included them within our opening two minutes.
- This shall hopefully take one lesson. If we still have more to do we are going to do it at home and hopefully get it done as soon as we can. We want the pathway opening two minutes to look more like an opening two minutes film which is a horror genre.
