Research and planning - Filming practice.

- During our lesson today we had a task for filming practice which included the phrase ' What are you doing here?' we had to think of three places and three scenarios.
- Scenario 1 was a surprised happy ' what are you doing here?'
- Scenario 2 was a disappointed angry 'what are you doing here?'
- Scenario 3 was a teacher telling two students messing around with a angry tone on his voice ' what are you doing here'

- Our focus was to have a steady camera shot and position. Bryony the director and Filmer in our opening two minutes was filming during the practice filming as she didn't to get used to the camera and the adjustments to it.
- use of dialogue

- From doing this filming practice we got more ideas for different camera shots and positions which is what we thought came in useful during this task as we needed to think of more camera shots to include in our opening two minutes.

- Camera shots which we are now familiar with and shall use in our opening two minutes,
- Extreme close up - by using this type of shot shall make the audience focus on that character and there emotion which shall engage the audience more with the character.
- Low shot -  by using this shot shall make the audience aware of the location that the characters are in and where the film is being set as the character looks higher than that actually are which adds more effect to the opening two minutes.
- Over the shoulder shot - by using this shot gives the audience the view of what the main character is seeing which makes the audience more engaged and involved with the characters which is what a horror genre film wants the audience to do.
- Extreme long shot - by using this shot shall make the audience know that the character is going from one location to another which is what we want the audience to infer for our opening two minutes which is what horror genres include in films.

Research and planning -script

- For our opening two minutes we have decided that we aren't going to include a script as we don't want to give too much away with the rest of the film as the opening two minutes is meant to create suspense towards the audience which is what horror genres tend to do.
- However, we are including some dialogue which doesn't consist of speaking.

- Dialogue
- Towards the end of the opening two minutes the victim ( me ) meets the antagonist and the victim ( me ) screams. By only using a scream in our opening two minutes shall create tension towards the audience and  the audience shall question whats going to happen within the rest of the film and they shall want to see why the victim ( me ) was screaming and what the antagonist looks like and how he kills his victims.

- The sound is mainly coming from the soundtracks.

Research and planning - makeup

- In our 2 minutes of our film, Me - Emma will put some dramatic make up on to add to the suspense of the horror. We have been inspired by the film 'The Ring' as this is the sort of film to match our criteria and it looks very effective. We found a video clip which is a walkthrough of how to apply the make up what make up we should use
-The make up we shall use won't be as durastic as the victim ( me ) as my face is covered majority of the clip anyway. We shall use dark make up but not much. Whereas the clip above shows what me - Emma will be applying to add effect to our film.
I did some analysis on 'The Ring' and have grasped a few good ideas from there, this is one of the ideas as I find the film very good when analysing effects and the narrative and storyline.

Research in planning - sound

- For the sound of our soundtrack for the opening two minutes of our horror film we want it to be mysterious as we want the audience to feel more engaged and involved within the film as the music shall build up tension and make the audience gain anxiety. It shall make them question what's going to happen and that something bad is going to happen so it shall leave them in the lerch with what's going to happen. We are going to make the soundtrack music link with what's going to happen within the narrative.

- We have done some research of other horror films which our horror is similar to so we can get some ideas for our soundtrack. From researching horror genre films gave us some ideas of what kind of music to include in our opening two minutes, the horror films which we researched and looked at used a soundtrack which used tense music which the horror genre films tend to include. However, some horror films we looked at didn't include a soundtrack in there opening two minutes which also gave a tense effect as the silence shall make the audience suspense as they shall be waiting for what is going to happen next. Even though the silence worked within the opening two minutes we have decided to include a soundtrack as it linked with our opening two minutes.

- For one of our lessons we have used this music thing called cube base which we can make our own music from, we experimented with different sounds which link to the theme and the sound we want for our horror, it was hard to find the right sound which is going to be included in our sound track but we want something that hasn't been used for and something different as we want our horror to be more appealing to the audience and something that hasn't been done before within the horror filming industry. The thing which we shall probably do is film our opening two minutes first then are which sounds go with the opening two minutes.

Research and planning - horror film institutions.

- There are many horror film institutions. Examples of these are,

- 20th century fox prefers to do comedy/fantasy and family films as they seem to be the films which make 20th century fox get more money. However, they also create horror films like from hell, aliens, The omen, Jennifer's body, The haunting of molly, Hartley and the shutter.

- Warner brothers have produced some of the best horror films like the orphan, Friday the 13th, One missed call, Sweeney Todd, The wicker man, House of wax.
-However, Warner brothers haven't just created horror films they've also created some of the most popular films like harry potter, valentines day, sex in the city and many others.
- From this you can infer that the Warner brothers are popular producers and institutions in the filming industry which makes them more well known and popular towards the public.

- Universal has acheieved popular success and the recent academey award winners with films they produced. Some of the these include, The bourne ultimatum, king kong, brokeback mountain, ray, a beautiful mind, The painist and lost in translation.
- Universal pictures prefer to make films which focus on drama, romance and adventure.
- They don't tend to do horror films, unlike warner brothers who have produced many well known horror films.

- Horror films lionsgate have produced are saw 3D, saw 1,2,3,4,5,6, the last excorism, my bloody valentine and the eye.

- Hammer is a smaller film company.
- Horror films.
- Hammer are more cheap than other film institutions.

Research and planning - institution

- The institution of dreamworks has produced films similar to the film we are making. Examples of this are 'the ring' and 'paranormal activity'.
-Dreamworks has produced a different range of films. Including,
- The ring which is a horror genre. We are using dream works for our film as the ring is similar to our film and opening two minutes and its more different and unusual for dreamworks to produce horror films so we thought we would bring something different to our horror film.
- What lies beneath- supernatural horror.
- Road trip - comedey.
- Dreamworks have done all types of genres, thrillers, comedy, horrors, supernatural horrors and animation.
